Welcome to our Domestic Hardwood page. Here you will find the Domestic hardwoods that we currently have to offer. Please note that not all Paxton distribution centers carry every species. Contact your local Frank Paxton Lumber Company to see what species your distribution center carries.

Growing climates and soil conditions vary greatly in the USA. This results in different regions producing the same species that are dramatically different in color, texture, etc. Therefore, Frank Paxton Lumber has facilities in the regions that produce the best color and finest textured hardwoods.

Available Grades

FAS - Firsts and Seconds
Each face of the board will yield a minimum 83-1/3% clear.

FAS 1F - Firsts and Seconds 1 Face
Better face of the board will grade FAS, poor face of the board will grade #1 Common.

Select
Similiar to the grades of FAS and FAS 1F. Select grade lumber is a premium grade of short and/or narrow boards.

Comsel
Comsel is a proprietary grade containing a specified mix of Select grade and #1 Common grade boards.

#1 Common
Each face of the board will yield a minimum 66-2/3% clear.

#2 Common
Each face of the board will yield a minimum 50% clear.

Rustic
Rustic is a character grade in which boards are chosen for their rural and natural look.

Available Thicknesses

Lumber is available in standard thicknesses ranging from 4/4 through 16/4. *Subject to availability.

Lumber is also available in most S2S thicknesses. Please contact your local Frank Paxton Lumber Company for any inquiries.
